County Maps: Venango

Description: Creek offers almost continuous whitewater down easy rapids of angular boulders and angular cobles. Initially runs in hemlock forest and fairly remote setting marred by gas pumps, pipes, access roads, and logging. There is an ugly campground at the end. [Reported 1993]

Difficulties: Newly formed (2004) logjam that could certainly catch a marginally skilled boater.

Shuttle: To reach the put-in, in Clintonville turn north on State Route 308 (Franklin Street) and go 0.8 miles to the bridge. To reach the take‑out, return to Clintonville, turn left/east on State Route 208 and go about 1.5 miles to State Route 3005. Turn left/north and go 2.0 miles to State Route 3006. Turn left/west on State Route 3006 and go 1.0 mile to State Route 3008. Turn right/north onto State Route 3008 and follow this to the mouth at the Allegheny River.

Gauge: None.

Normal Wet Period: No available statistics on seasons. Since this section is tiny, it should normally be runnable only after a heavy rain or during spring snowmelt.
