A. Crossingville to Crosley Road 7.8 miles Class Grad Size
(Area/Volume) Scene/Pol Level C 3/3 23/Tiny A/A 2.1-?? Topographic Maps: Edinboro South County Maps: Crawford Description: This is low elevation country. No houses are near the water. The banks are gradual slopes and low, making it easier to exit and enter on portages of fallen trees. The view is brush and wooded area with occasional meadow. A lot of wildlife. [Reported 1999] Difficulties: Fallen trees occasionally in the first three miles, then the numbers increase with the remaining miles. Gravel banks give way to mud part way through, making the portages a little trickier towards the end. Shuttle: Put in on State Route 98 southwest of Crossingville. To reach the take‑out, go south on State Route 98 to Crosley Road. Turn left/east and go 0.3 miles to the bridge. Gauge: Meadville on Cussewago Creek. Note there is also a nearby Meadville gauge on French Creek. Be sure and get the correct one. There is a staff gauge on the left abutment of (probably) the second road bridge from the start. A level of 2.1 was okay in riffles, plenty everywhere else. The Union City Outflow gauge on nearby French Creek will probably read above 4.6 feet (1,000 cfs). Normal Wet Period: No available statistics on seasons. Since this section is tiny, it should normally be runnable only after a heavy rain or during spring snowmelt. B.
