Description: This is a straightforward small stream with lots to offer the novice paddler. The Shaffer Covered Bridge, which dates back to the 19th century, is the one-third mark of the run. The stream has continuous stretches of Class II rapids. [Reported 1982]

Difficulties: Downed trees.

Shuttle: The put-in is next to the Stardust Hotel at an old gas station. This is located several miles north of Thomas Mills on State Route 985, heading towards Johnstown. The take-out is at the Ideal Park Bridge near the town of Bens Creek on State Route 985.

Gauges: Ferndale. This gauge on nearby Stony Creek will probably read above 4.0 feet.

Normal Wet Period: No available statistics on seasons. Since this section is tiny, it should normally be runnable only after a heavy rain or during spring snowmelt.
