(Area/Volume) Scene/Pol Level I-II 16/20 Small
(61/102) B/A Topographic Maps: Keating Summit, Norwich, Port Allegany County Maps: McKean Description: A very small clear brook winding like crazy through bottomland woods in a narrow pastoral valley. Only a few tree problems but many sharp woody bends -- this is alder country! The last mile is drab and trashy. [Reported 1999] Difficulties: A few trees down. Shuttle: State Route 155 runs along the creek. Put in at a bridge on T‑404 road in Wrights. To reach the take-out go north on State Route 155. As you enter Port Allegany turn left/west and go 0.3 miles to where the road crosses the Allegheny river. This will be about 0.2 miles downstream of the junction of this stream with the Allegheny. You can add a mile to the trip by continuing to where US Route 6 crosses the Allegheny River. Gauge: Port Allegany. This gauge is about 1.4 miles downstream from the mouth on the Allegheny River. Check for water at the put-in bridge in Wrights, if it is passable on the upstream side then the run will be okay. Normal Wet Period: No available statistics on seasons. Since this section is small, it should normally be runnable approximately January through April. [GHS1]This cannot be found. |
